  • Plaque at Rufus Morgan Falls in memoriam to him.
Dr. Albert Rufus Morgan was an Episcopalian priest, a teacher, a poet, and an avid hiker and loved God's natural world and its people. He died at age 97 in 1983.
He maintained 55 miles of the A.T. along the Nantahala Crest until he could no longer keep it up. He then founded the Nantahala Hiking Club who carried on his work in maintaining the trail. These are but a few of his accomplishments.
