Granny and Paw. Troy and Evelyn Painter. He has passed on but she is still living and is 86.
This was taken on Paw's birthday. I don't recall exactly how old he was this day, but up in his mid 70's. He was still farming full force after retiring from the Forestry service. He was their stone mason for years and did forestry service maintenance. He farmed by raising cattle, pigs, horses, and kept a tater patch of 1 acre and a 2 acre vegetable garden. He and Granny had their own apple orchard. They didn't go to the store for butter, eggs, bread, milk, cream, meat or vegetables, fruit. All grown at home. Only went for the things they couldn't grow or make themselves until the 1990s. When this was taken he was still opening up the ground with an stout Irish dobby he raised up from a colt and used an old harrow and harness.
